The story behind Lagom Handmade Glassware

Lagom is a London-based homeware studio founded by industrial designer Karolina Obroniecka Perez-Maura.

We create objects for the table and beyond, with a focus on material, form and everyday use. Our first collection explores borosilicate glass, designed in London and handmade in small batches in the Czech Republic, where a rich glassmaking tradition continues to shape the way we work.

We value the skill, knowledge and stories carried by craftspeople and their making traditions, bringing them into conversation with contemporary design. Each piece is created to be used, lived with and enjoyed over time.


Founded by Karolina.

Lagom was founded by industrial designer Karolina Obroniecka Perez-Maura. Polish, born and raised in France, she studied design in Poland and Spain before moving to London.

Today, London is home, where she combines her design practice with teaching at UAL Central Saint Martins and life as a mum of two.

Having lived across different countries and cultures has naturally shaped the way Karolina sees design. She is curious about how things are made, the people and skills behind them, and the different materials and making traditions she encounters.

Glass was the starting point for Lagom and remains an important part of the studio, through both the collection and bespoke projects. But the studio is gradually looking beyond glass, exploring other materials, processes and ways of making.

The meaning of Lagom.

A Swedish concept meaning “just the right amount”.

Not too much. Not too little. A balance between beauty, utility and consideration — an idea that continues to shape how we design.

Made in the Europe.

We work closely with skilled glassblowers in the Czech Republic and Poland, drawing on the rich glassmaking traditions of both countries.

Each piece is made by hand in small batches, using techniques that rely on the experience and skill of the maker. Subtle variations are part of this process, giving each object its own character.
