Meet Karolina: The Heart Behind Lagom Handmade Glassware
Every piece of Lagom Handmade Glassware carries more than just shape and color—it carries a story. And that story begins with me.
My name is Karolina. I’m 31, Polish by roots but Paris-born, now living in London—and married to a Spaniard. Life, for me, has always been a blend of cultures, creativity, and curiosity. Lagom began as something quite unexpected: a student ice cream project that evolved into a lifelong passion for design and craft. After a short stint in a design consultancy I couldn’t stand, I took a leap and built what Lagom is today—one piece at a time.
Each glass that leaves my studio reflects my love of timeless design and sustainable craftsmanship. From simple tumblers to elegant unique champagne glasses, every item is shaped and finished with care, designed to endure not only in durability but in style. My inspiration comes from nature, Scandinavian simplicity, and the belief that handmade glassware carries a soul that mass-produced products can never replicate.
Once a week, I step out of the studio to teach at UAL Central Saint Martins, sharing what I’ve learned with young designers. Away from work, I’m a mum of two, navigating that delicate balance between creativity and family, often shadowed by the very real feeling of mum guilt. Like many working parents, I’m always striving (and often feeling like I am failing) to do more—for my kids, my work, and myself.
People say I’m funny and friendly (and I like to think that’s true), though I’ll admit there’s a bit of a fiery streak too. I’m a language nerd with absolutely zero sense of geography, and my secret dream—if I weren’t in design—would be to sing in musicals.
And because I believe in honesty and a little humor: I binge-watch cooking shows even though I can’t cook, and yes, I once pierced my tongue at 15—a terrible idea that came with equally terrible side effects.
Lagom today is an extension of all these parts of me—playful, imperfect, but deeply intentional. It’s about creating pieces that turn small, everyday rituals into something special. Whether it’s a quiet evening drink in a set of cocktail glasses or finding the most perfect Christmas gift for someone who values craftsmanship, Lagom exists to celebrate beauty in balance.
I dream of expanding Lagom into a full homeware line one day. For now, my focus remains where it all began—with glassware that reflects care, thought, and the joy of living just right.
So there you have it—my story, and a little piece of my world.
Thank you for reading all the way through—your time means a lot, and I hope this glimpse into my journey adds a little warmth and inspiration to your day.
